Using the Upload/Download Table

The Upload/Download Table system allows website managers to quickly upload a PDF, TXT or other document to a website page. These documents are then automatically presented in a table for site visitors to click on and view or download.


Enabling the Upload/Download Table for a Page

More recent CMS installations have the ability for users to enable the upload/download table themselves. Earlier version require Uxello to enable this for you. Please contact Uxello to have your system updated to allow you full access to set these tables up. To enable the upload/download table for an individual website page:

  1. First log in to the backend website manager.
  2. After you have logged in you should edit the page you wish to enable the upload/download table for.
  3. After the Resource Content is a section called Other resource configuration. There is an option called Show upload/download table? Simply select the Yes option to either have the table sorted by date of upload or name of file.
  4. Save this change to enable the upload/download table and proceed to the next section to learn how to add files to the table.

Adding a document to the Upload/Download Table

Before starting ensure the file to be uploaded from the PC has been named to reflect the contents in the file as this filename will be used to identify the document in the automatic table.

  1. First log in to the backend website manager.
  2. After you have logged in you should return to the frontend website and go to the page containing the Upload/Download Table.
  3. There is a Select a file to upload field above the upload/download table. Click the Browse... button. This button may also be labelled Choose File or similar depending on your specific browser.
  4. Choose the PDF located on your PC drive. It is advised not to use spaces in file names to be uploaded. Then close the select window. The path and filename will be displayed in the Select a file to upload field.
  5. Click the Upload file button next to the Select a file to upload button and the file will be uploaded to the website.The uploaded file will then be displayed in the automatic table together with the size and date.

Removing a document from the Upload/Download Table

  1. First log in to the backend website manager.
  2. After you have logged in you should return to the frontend website and go to the page containing the Upload/Download Table.
  3. Next to each file in the automatic table will be a Delete link. Click on the Delete link for the file you wish to remove.
  4. You will be asked to confirm you wish to delete the file from the system. Click OK to confirm the delete.
