Using the NEW Gallery

Galleries offer a simple way to add images to a web page using one of several defined types (layouts). Galleries are edited from the front-end website, not the manager.

NOTE: Using this gallery system images are automatically scaled for the website and so images can safely be loaded straight from a camera.

Selecting a Gallery Type

The gallery for a website page comes in several types (layouts):

  1. No Gallery
  2. Right Side Stack - Thumbnail images are positioned on the right side of the page and can be selected for a larger view.
  3. Right Side Stack (1st as banner) - Same as above but the first image in the list is displayed larger, as a full width image, above all the page content and images.
  4. Right Side Stack (1st as banner left of stack) - Same as above but the first image in the list is displayed to the left of any thumbnail gallery images.
  5. Grid Gallery - A traditional grid of thumbnails below the main page content.
  6. Grid Gallery (1st as banner) - Same as above but the first image in the list is displayed larger, as a full width image, above all the page content.
  7. Banner Slideshow (works best with landscape orientation images) - One full width image at a time is displayed in a continuous slideshow.
  8. Banner (single random) - A singe randomly selected image is displayed as a full width image. Each time the page is visited a different (random) image is shown.
  • First log in to the backend website manager.
  • After you have logged in you should edit the page you wish to alter the gallery type for.
  • After the Resource Content is a section called Other resource configuration. There is an option called Gallery Type. Simply select a gallery type from the list. You can safely change the gallery type without losing any images that have already been uploaded.

In all cases the layout and size of thumbnails and larger images (clicking on a thumbnail will display a larger version of the image) are fixed for simplicity. Titles and descriptions can be added to each image and the order of the images can also be changed.

Managing Images

  • After authentication, by logging in to the manager, return to the website frontend and a Manage pictures button will be displayed on the page or next to an individual news item.
  • Click the Manage pictures button to display a screen where images can be uploaded to the gallery, sorted and labeled.
  • Browse for one or more images on your PC using the yellow/orange section at the top of the page.
  • After selecting the image(s) click the Upload pictures button.
  • After the image(s) have been uploaded you can return to the normal website page by clicking the Back to normal view button at the top of the screen.

Titles, Order and Deleting Gallery Images

  • Click the Manage pictures button to display a screen where images can be uploaded to the gallery, sorted and labeled.
  • To title an image simply add the title to the associated image in the Title field. Try to keep this title short.
  • A longer description can be added to the Description field which is only visible when the thumbnail image is clicked on.
  • The order of the images can be changed by either clicking the Sort pictures button at the top of the screen and dragging to the desired order. Or numeric values can be entered in to each Position field.
  • To delete an image check the Delete checkbox against the desired image.
  • After changing the title, description, marking images for deleting or changing the order make sure you click the Save changes button at the top of the screen.
  • You can now return to the normal website page by clicking the Back to normal view button at the top left of the screen.
